Asset administration shell: maximise the efficiency of your value chain

In a world that is becoming increasingly networked and digital, the asset administration shell (AAS) is an important key to sharing information across the entire life cycle of your production facilities with all channel partners in the value creation network and optimising time-to-market.

The asset administration shell specified by IDTA enables you to combine all the important data and information about your systems in a digital package that is accessible throughout the entire product life cycle and is always up to date. Whether technical specifications, documentation or real-time data, it brings everything together in a machine-readable format and makes this data directly usable for your production. Bürkert is at your side as an experienced channel partner and supports you in making your processes fit for the digital future. Let’s unleash additional potential together and take cooperation to a new level!

The structure: this is how an AAS is made up

The AAS is more than just a digital data shell, it is your access to smart automation of systems and company processes. It brings together all relevant information on a component or system – from engineering to operation and maintenance – across company boundaries. This means the information can be used flexibly and efficiently.

Our vision of the AAS is divided into three components:

Static data

This includes digital type labels, technical specifications and documentation that clearly describe your product.

Dynamic data

This real-time data includes all operational and process information that is collected while using a product.

Smart functions

Automated functions such as anomaly detection, predictive maintenance and smart control functions enable processes to be optimised autonomously.

The status quo: what Bürkert can already offer you today

Bürkert is setting a good example: we offer an AAS for over 50,000 products, which is available for you via the Bürkert eShop and contains a large amount of static data. As a customer, you benefit from simple, fast access to important product data that is available centrally and digitally. Whether you want to access the digital nameplate, technical data or documentation, everything is machine-readable and can be imported directly into your systems. This technological advantage not only provides you with efficiency gains, but also ensures full transparency and traceability throughout the entire life cycle of your products.

The future: networked cooperation throughout the value chain

The future of industry is digital and Bürkert is helping to shape it. In the medium term, the AAS will open up a completely new form of cooperation between Bürkert and other component manufacturers, OEMs and end customers. All data is available for all parties in real time. This not only improves communication, but also shortens development cycles and optimises the coordination of processes. Consistent networking along the entire supply chain makes AAS the key and driving force for sustainable, efficient and future-oriented production.

Efficiency and faster time-to-market – the AAS is an essential key

The use of AAS therefore creates the basis that will open up completely new optimisation possibilities for your production processes in the future. A targeted expansion of the asset administration shell, in which the three central components of static data, dynamic data and intelligent functions are systematically taken into account, will offer you significant advantages in the foreseeable future.

AAS download in three steps

1. Enter the article number in the search bar on the Bürkert website and confirm with Enter

2. On the article detail page, scroll to the heading “Product-specific information” (see graphic below)

3. Download the article number-specific AAS (see graphic below at ❶) Note: If the customer login is active and the serial number is entered, you will receive additional, serial number-specific AAS information (see graphic below at ❷).

Please note that AAS are not yet available for all article numbers as the AAS is being made available in stages.

The digital twin: a milestone in your digitalisation strategy

The asset administration shell is only the first step into the digital future, but a very important one. This is because a digital twin is developed from it. This then acts as an exact virtual representation of your physical systems. The digital twin enables you to simulate, analyse and optimise processes in real time. This gives you valuable insights into your production and allows you to minimise downtimes before they even occur. What opportunities does the digital twin open up? How can Bürkert support you on this joint journey? Discover more here.

Digital twin: for your automation & digitalisation strategyDigital twin: for your automation & digitalisation strategy

Imagine your system being digitally available at all times: in real time, clearly organised and detailed. The digital twin makes this possible for you. This future-proof key technology means you can not only monitor, simulate and optimise the operating processes themselves, but also have all upstream and downstream processes under control at all times – from system planning to order picking. And that’s before any changes are necessary in the real world. This allows you to gain sound insight, make data-based decisions and increase your efficiency in every single phase of the process.
