Reliable fluid control in sterilisation and disinfection devices for sterile cleanliness without compromises
Insufficient disinfection or sterilisation of instruments in the medical sector can have serious consequences, including the death of the patient. At the same time, the trend is moving towards minimally invasive procedures, increasing the use of endoscopy in turn – in hospitals, dental or GP practices. Cleaning endoscopes and medical instruments reliably is therefore essential for modern medicine.

Malfunctions in cleaning or the breakdown of cleaning devices endanger the health of the patient and can lead to significant additional costs – for the hospital (e.g. maintenance costs) and the health system (e.g. for new treatment, treating the harm to the patient).
Reliable and safe cleaning devices are essential in order to avoid these problems. Our fluidics experts will therefore work on multi-functional application solutions with the aid of your requirements for endoscopic processing or steam sterilisation of dental or medical instruments. For this purpose, we make use of tried-and-tested sensors, actuators and control technology to control steam or cleaning media. Thanks to our extensive portfolio, we can provide you with optimal support in all facets of fluid handling – from the distribution of the inflow of media, to leakage detection or the control of saturated steam, to the collection of the return flow during sterilisation. A system solution of this kind can help monitor and optimise your processes, for example, by increasing performance in the device with faster purging of the entire system.
Safely design the right solutions for your steam sterilisation and disinfection devices
We also analyse processes – because as fluidics experts, we develop the right solution for your sterilisation and disinfection devices, from customised components to individually tailored systems. You will find a selection here – discover more with a non-binding consultation.

The requirement: strong cleaning liquids must be mixed in a set concentration for safe cleaning of the endoscope.
The Bürkert solution: with its high product and application expertise in supplying and mixing liquids, Bürkert will develop individual solutions for you - from the simple switching of valves, systems with integrated pumps to the supply of cleaning solution, to complex concentration monitoring.
The requirement: complex distribution of different liquids, with set temperatures and pressures to the endoscope’s cleaning outlets and connections, with as little pressure drop in the fluidics as possible.
The Bürkert solution: different sensors, valves and pumps are used in highly integrated systems. Our product and application knowledge enable us to develop and produce highly integrated systems that make use of the wide portfolio of fluidics components in the fields of sensors, valves and pumps
The requirement: the internal parts of the endoscope, especially the electronics assembly, are hermetically sealed away from the environment with a protective film, in order to protect from damage or contamination.
The Bürkert solution: for this purpose, Bürkert develops and produces systems that check the tightness of this film with the aid of a pressure drop method during the cleaning process. Our type 7011 and 7012 standard magnetic valves, pressure switches and sensors are used for this, along with diaphragm pumps from Schwarzer Precision.
The requirement: before the actual sterilisation process begins, it must be ensured that all air has been evacuated from the steriliser and the chamber only contains pure saturated steam.
The Bürkert solution: the Bürkert type 2000 or type 2100 angle seat valves control the bottom connection of the steriliser chamber, amongst other things. The proven self-adjusting v-seal packing gland ensures good sealing for the applied steam overpressure and the vacuum condition. The valves achieve over three million switching cycles and are available for almost every pressure and temperature range.
The requirement: working media (e.g. hot and cold water, different chemicals) are distributed to multiple consumers in the steriliser inflow. Return flow from multiple consumers must also be collected.
The Bürkert solution: with the combination of the Bürkert valve with the type 8840 valve cluster, Bürkert is offering its customers a modular housing with which mixing, distributor or multiple functions can be performed in a very compact variant. Flow, pressure and temperature sensors, as well as filters and non-return systems, can be integrated directly into the modular process valve cluster.
The requirement: compact, long-lasting and functionally safe control of steam and oils
The Bürkert solution: we have been offering solutions for fluid control in dental sterilisations for over 10 years. The newest generation of our type 7011 and 7012 on/off valves permanently increases functional safety in the dental steriliser with steam up to 140°C. Based on our application knowledge and core expertise in plastic injection moulding, we offer compact fluidics solutions for flushing, oiling and disinfecting dental instruments.
