Bürkert wins the “Umwelttechnikpreis“ 2025 Baden-Württemberg, an environmental technology award
The valve diagnostic solution ValveInsight from Bürkert Fluid Control Systems has been awarded the “Umwelttechnikpreis” 2025 Baden-Württemberg, an environmental technology award in the category ‘Measurement and Control Technology, Digitisation, Industry 4.0’. The solution helps companies make their processes more sustainable and efficient. The award ceremony took place on 11 November 2025 at the Schwabenlandhalle events venue in Fellbach near Stuttgart.

The diagnostic solution ValveInsight impresses with digital process monitoring
With ValveInsight, fluidics specialist Bürkert offers a solution that makes production processes significantly more sustainable. Conventional valves often make it difficult to know at a glance whether they have switched or not. This would require additional sensors, which in turn are expensive and complex to integrate. This is where ValveInsight comes into play: a specially developed algorithm analyses the current that flows when the valves are switched on. Among other things, this provides information about whether the valve has switched as planned. This is made possible by the “Whisper Valves” series of solenoid valves with their patented electrodynamic control unit. This eliminates the need for an additional sensor, as the valve itself indicates if a malfunction has occurred.
This digital process monitoring saves materials, energy, and time. Errors in the process are detected early on, before they lead to wasted products or resources. In addition, the technology is designed to be open and can be easily integrated into existing systems. Companies therefore only need one of Bürkert’s Whisper Valves and can integrate the algorithm free of charge without having to purchase any additional components.
Daniel Schmidt from Innovation Management at Bürkert is delighted that this also impressed the Award’s jury. He emphasized: “Receiving the award confirms our strategic direction and our approach to innovation. ValveInsight not only contributes to digital transformation, but also demonstrates that sustainable technologies are at the heart of everything we do at Bürkert.”
The “Umwelttechnikpreis” Baden-Württemberg, an environmental technology award
Presented every two years since 2009 by the state’s Ministry for the Environment, Climate and Energy Sector, the Award is one of the most prestigious accolades in the field of sustainable innovations. It recognises particularly advanced products and processes that make a significant contribution to resource efficiency and environmental protection. The award is aimed at companies with a registered office or branch in Baden-Württemberg, whose solutions are either about to be launched on the market or have been on the market for less than two years. The focus here is on the individual products’ environmental performance. The award is presented in four categories: energy efficiency; material efficiency and resource conservation; circular economy and avoidance of environmental pollution; as well as digitisation, AI, and measurement and control technology.
